Republic Of Singapore Air Force 55th Anniversary Open House

Updated: Sep 16, 2023

The RSAF (Republic of Singapore Air Force) Open House is back after a 6-year hiatus, marking its 55th anniversary. Running on the 9th and 10th of September from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., the RSAF55 Open House (RSAF55OH) is a ticket-free, public event. This year, visitors will be treated to a unique experience with the introduction of the new Phygital (physical and digital) concept through the RSAF55OH Digital Experience Webapp. The RSAF55OH Digital Experience Webapp provides visitors with important details such as directions to RSAF55OH, real-time queue updates for flight simulators and static displays, a site map of the entire open house, and event schedules. In addition to the webapp, visitors would be given individualized NFC tags. These NFC Tags enable them to take part in a variety of activities such as quizzes and phygital games which will be spread out around the exhibition halls. The phygital aspect of this year’s open house aims to make RSAF55OH even more immersive and personal than ever before for the attendees.

Exhibition Hall

The RSAF55OH features 3 distinct Exhibition Halls, each hall featuring its own unique theme.

Hall 1 - The RSAF Story

This hall serves as a time capsule, taking visitors down memory lane to when the RSAF was established and how the RSAF has evolved its capabilities over the past 55 years into the advanced and competent fighting force it is today.

Hall 2 - Our People, Our Airforce

This hall sheds light on the many different vocations and the various roles and responsibilities they undertake to protect Singapore’s skies. In addition to that, the Singapore Youth Flying Club’s Virtual Black Knights would be performing a virtual aerobatic display.

Hall 3 - Future Airbase

In this hall, attendees have the opportunity to delve into the world of smart airbase advancements and learn about the future initiatives the RSAF intends to implement in its airbases. Attendees have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the various flight simulators and games throughout the exhibition hall.

Capability Displays

Throughout RSAF55OH, a number of Capability Displays will be taking place. These include an Aerial Capability Display, a Military Working Dog display, and a Fighter Weapons Loading demonstration. These displays aim to offer a glimpse into the inner workings of the Air Force and its interoperability with the Army.

The Aerial Capability Display begins with a pair of F-15SGs scrambling to intercept a commercial airliner simulated by an RSAF A330MRTT with a suspected bomb threat. The F-15SGs, then escort the ‘airliner’ back to Paya Lebar Airbase.

The next act showcases the rapid deployment of the SPYDER missile system, while a Heron 1 UAV transmits a live stream to the show center. The F-15SGs conduct a mock bombing run against a simulated ground threat. Lastly, the RSAF’s new H225M inserts troops into the simulated battlefield.

The RSAF55OH promises to be an unforgettable experience for everyone, so be sure to mark your calendars. We hope to see you at RSAF55OH!
