APP is returning with a fresh Monthly Spotter Feature, highlighting aviation fans from Singapore and beyond. The objective and inspiration for this initiative are to foster unity within the community and to illuminate the world we share, aiming to increase awareness about our hobby and offer visibility to all spotters on a local and global scale.
Introducing Yixin, an aviation photographer from Singapore, who is featured in this month's edition of Featured Spotters. Despite being a Secondary school student, Yixin possesses a creative eye for photography and is known for being outgoing amongst his friends in the community. 1)A quick self intro, name, where you are from, and what do you do?
Hello, I am Yixin, a 15-year-old in secondary 3 who has a passion for aviation. Since I was young, I have always been in love with aviation. Eventually, as I grew up, I started to develop an interest in aviation photography and created an Instagram account for it called “zinzinnati_spotting.”
2)What sparked your interest in aviation?
When I first set foot into the departure hall at Changi Airport Terminal 3 as a young kid, I could still remember how I was mesmerized by the sight of planes resting at their gates right in front of me. From that day on, my love and passion for aviation only grew stronger.
3)You Fave Aircraft and Airline....?
My favorite aircraft definitely has to be the Airbus A350, as the sleek design of the aircraft just captures my attention a lot, probably because they are super quiet. My favorite airline definitely has to be KLM, as they provided me with one of the best services I had with a European airline while I was on my flight to Amsterdam. Not only that, I love how their legroom on their flights is always so big and spacious, making such a long journey more comfortable.
4)What gear and software you use?
The gear I am currently using is a

-EF75-300mm f4-5.6 lens

-Photoshop(still learning)
-Lightroom classic
5)Where do you usually like to plane spot?
Definitely Changi Beach Park, as it is a really peaceful place most of the time, which is something I like a lot. Not only that, I also like the fact that I’m constantly surrounded by the beauty of nature, which really calms me down. Also, at Changi Beach, I could always push for newer and better perspectives!
6)What do you enjoy most about plane spotting so far?
Definitely the people I have met through plane spotting. The spotters and photographers I have met through the plane spotting community have made my plane spotting journey more fun and educative. Through the people, I got to learn more about how to improve my editing and photography skills!
6)Looking back, any tips or advice you would give to new aspiring spotters ?
Never be afraid to try something new. Even if you are the only one who does it, still go for it as it shows that you have the effort to be different and be more creative compared to others!
