WEEKLY SPOTTER FEATURE

10 Questions With KEIRAN NATHANAEL

(AUG 22 2020)

Welcome to “10 Questions With”, a weekly segment on APP's website showcasing aviation spotters & enthusiasts based in Singapore. The concept and motivation behind this project is to bring the community together, and to shine a light on all the different spotters here on our sunny island, raising awareness of our hobby in Singapore and to provide a chance for all spotters to be seen both locally & internationally.

Next Up is 19 year old Keiran Nathanael, who brought his love for photography and aviation together, producing some of the most creative aviation images here in Singapore.

1: A quick self intro, name, where are you from, and what do you do?

Hello, my name is Keiran. I am currently a student studying mechatronics at a local Polytechnic. I’ve been spotting since early 2018. Apart from aviation, I shoot other kinds of subjects, especially cityscapes and wildlife. You can browse my aviation gallery at @keiran.9v.

2: What sparked your interest in aviation?

My interest started with when I moved into my current house and discovered that Air Force planes regularly flew low over my house, putting up an impressive display. I later got my hands on a bridge camera, mainly to document airshows. Eventually, I grew to love photography in general.

3: You Favourite Airline & AIRCRAFT is....?

Lufthansa, without a doubt. My favorite airplane would be the 747.

4: SOMETHING YOU WANT TO DO ON YOUR AVIATION BUCKET LIST....?

I’d love to fly on a 747 while they’re still around.

5: Best spotting location in your opinion?

There’s is no one perfect spot for everyone. However, my personal favorite would have to be Edinburgh Airport.

6: Window, Middle or Aisle Seat?

Definitely the window seat.

7: Any PHOtographers you look up to?

8: out Of all your images, which is your fave photo and tell us why?

My favorite photo would have to be the sunset photo of the FedEx MD11. Using all that I’ve learnt, I had turned a less than satisfactory photo into one of my favorites.

9 :Must have items in your bag while spotting?

A nice cool bottle of tea and some good earphones.

10: If there is one thing that sets you apart from the next spotter, what would it be?

I would say my desire to make creative and artistic photos is what makes me unique. The satisfaction of finally making that perfect photo is a high that just can’t be experienced by simply catching special movements.

That's all for this weeks edition of our Spotter Feature. Do Check out Keiran's works on his Instagram profile, and stay tuned for next's week interview with Cornelius Kwok.
