WEEKLY SPOTTER FEATURE

10 Questions With PANTELEY SHMELEV

AUG 15 2020

Welcome to “10 Questions With”, a weekly segment on APP's website showcasing aviation spotters & enthusiasts based in Singapore. The concept and motivation behind this project is to bring the community together, and to shine a light on all the different spotters here on our sunny island, raising awareness of our hobby in Singapore and to provide a chance for all spotters to be seen both locally & internationally.

Our next feature spotter hails from Russia, currently residing in Singapore. Meet 14 year old Panteley, whom not only runs his own Instagram but is also a part of the Screening Team of The Explorer Blog.

1: A quick self intro, name, where are you from, and what do you do?

My name is Panteley Shmelev and I’m a Russian boy living in Singapore. I’m 14 years old and currently studying at Maris Stella High School.

2: What sparked your interest in aviation?

It all started with Remote control aircraft competitions, and the fact that I used to travel a lot, in the past of course :)

3: You Favourite Airline is....?

I'm tied between Lufthansa and Finnair, both are my favourite. (Can’t decide 😂)

4: And Your Favourite Airplane is....?

The Boeing 747-8i

5: Best spotting location in your opinion?

Spotting in Munich is great! It has many spots and many of them are actually made by the airport, specially for plane spotters. Not to mention, they also have many different ramp cheap tours, which let you go airside with your camera!!!

6: Window, Middle or Aisle Seat?

Middle obviously 😂

7: Looking back, any tips or advice you would give your younger self?

Canon 90D is the best camera for Planespotting. If you’re looking for one, go for the 90D. Just kidding, camera and gear don’t matter as much as editing skill.

8: out Of all your images, which is your fave photo and tell us why?

My favourite shot of a plane would have to be this photo of Singapore Airlines Cargo's 747 as it is my only good banking shot from Singapore. The aircraft rotated really low and banked DAAAMN early!!

9 :Must have items in your bag while spotting?

A water bottle.

10: If there is one thing that sets you apart from the next spotter, what would it be?

So I’m different from the other spotters when get excited and make up my mind to go catch something, I’ll do my best to do whatever it takes to catch it.

Thank you all for checking out our Spotter Feature this week. Do header to Panteley's Instagram profile, and show this young talented spotter some support!
